Nanindugan si COMELEC chairman George Erwin Garcia, nga respetohon sang komisyon ang mangin desisyon sang Kongreso okon Senado, angut sa Barangay kag SK Election nga gintalana sa Disyembre 5.
Sini nga adlaw, gin desisyonan sang Kongreso nga e postpone ang Barangay Election, pinaagi sa boto nga 12-2.
Ginsuhestiyon ni Garcia, nga dapat ipatigayon ang election sa tuig 2023, apang indi lang sa tuig 2024, bangud kinahanglan pa nga magpatigayon sang preparasyon ang Commission on Election para naman sa 2025 nga eleksyon.
Statement of COMELEC chairman Garcia:
“We were given P8.449-B as the budget for the Barangay and SK elections. As of today, we have spent only P800,000 of that money.
But, in the next few days, weeks or months, we will be spending from that money because we will now start with our procurement as well as the printing of the ballots. And that’s where the urgency lies.”*
